Healthcare Administrator Charged with Fraud

United States District Court, Central District of California – Magdalena G. was a healthcare administrator legally residing in the United States for nearly 10 years when she was indicted for defrauding the government and receiving illegal kickbacks for patient referrals.  In a multi-defendant case with a loss amount of over $12 million dollars, Ms. Azari’s exceptional negotiation skills led to the dismissal of the charges in lieu of a disposition, wherein her client was placed on one-year probation for a significantly lesser count of aiding and abetting in the making of false claims to a U.S. agency. Young Man Charged with Driving Under the Influence

Los Angeles Superior Court, Metropolitan Courthouse – Christopher J. was charged with driving under the influence after being stopped for speeding.  He was found to have a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher.  Ultimately, the DUI case was dismissed, and Ms. Azari’s client received only a speeding citation.

Air Force Sergeant Accused of Assaulting Senior Airman

Edwards Air Force Base, Court Martial – Technical Sergeant Anthony C. was accused of attacking, assaulting and attempting to rape a female airman and was charged with two counts of violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice, a federal and military crime.  If convicted, Anthony could have served a sentence of up to 20 years and would have been discharged from the military.  Ms. Azari’s client’s one-week court martial (military trial) resulted in full acquittal of both counts.

Woman Charged with Drug Trafficking, Sales & Transportation

United States District Court, New Mexico – Elizabeth G. was charged in federal court in Las Cruces, New Mexico with possession for sale of 49 kilograms of marijuana valued at $93,120 and for possession of a firearm.  Instead of a 10-year prison sentence, Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Sara Azari was able to obtain for Elizabeth six months of home confinement as part of a two-year term of probation whereby she could go to work and participate in other necessary events.

Man Receives Informal Probation for Grand Theft Charges

Los Angeles Superior Court, Central District – Charged with felony grand theft of property in the amount of $19,500, Brian P. received only one year of informal probation for a lesser misdemeanor offense as a result of Ms. Azari's determined defense.

Grand Theft Charges Dismissed

Los Angeles Superior Court, Torrance Branch – Phillip C. was charged with grand theft of property in the amount of $6,000 based on allegations that he stole merchandise from his workplace.  Phillip faced 16 months to three years of imprisonment.  Ms. Azari was ultimately able to have all charges dismissed.

Woman Charged with Transportation & Possession for Sale of Drugs

Riverside County Superior Court – In a multi-defendant case arising from arrests made at the Casino Morongo, Miriam S. was charged with several violations of the California Health and Safety Code, including transportation and possession for sale of methamphetamine, marijuana, and cocaine, as well as possession of paraphernalia.  Miriam was facing substantial time in state prison, and prosecutors persisted on the maximum sentence.  Ms. Azari aggressively negotiated the dismissal of all charges against Miriam pending completion of three years of probation.

Man Charged with Assault & Battery of a Tenant with Great Bodily Harm (Strike)

Los Angeles Superior Court – Van Nuys – Hamid R., a non-citizen, was charged in a multiple count complaint for assault and battery of his tenant upon collecting unpaid rent.  On the first day of trial, and after a year of aggressive litigation and investigation by Ms. Azari, the prosecutors succumbed to the fact that they could not proceed with proving their case against Hamid.  All charges were fully dismissed.
